In course of the municipal hall’s overall refurbishment the gym, that had also been used as a backstage, was knocked down and a new building with two upper levels was attached to the original cubatur. br>
These enlargements harbour the local music school, an orchestra rehearsal room and the school’s cafeteria, in the evening used as a Theatercafé.

This crystalline annex emphazises the public space in front of the school and adds a distinguishing land mark to the urban space.

Diverse retractions and chamfers that had to be included due to legal obligations were used to give the structure its special and extraordinary form and shape, adequate for a multi-purpose venue.

In the interior the corners, called „light-ears“, offer possible unique lighting-effects for the different rooms and stories of the building. Especially the corner orientated towards the school in the west and the main staircase plus the lounges behind it should thus be visible from the outside.

The jewel, the music school hall designed to seat an audience of 440 people, arranged with sound-absorbent wall surfaces and suspended ceiling panels that conceal the technical and lighting equipment, is being given the final polish. Its acoustics and the flexible, separable stage are designed to deal with various different scenarios covering the entire spectrum of music-theatre, from the traditional proscenium theatre to a space stage.
